It was 2.2 when we put it back on the lift this morning. After some guidance from forum suggestions we were able to achieve this...
0.2 camber left and right = 2.9 caster left and right
Toe .05
Any lower camber resulted in much lower caster.
The prices are still high on the 2012's and up but I feel there are good deals out there on the 2011's. I found one with low miles, 3rd row and sunroof (for the wife) for well under $30,000. Plus the new front end just hasn't grown on me yet.
Here's a breakdown of a negotiated $34,000 new car
T4R $34,000 (which is below invoice so amazing negotiating)
Tax at 6% $2040 (based on sales tax here)
Destination $550 (non negotiable)
Dealer fee $895 (non negotiable)
Tag transfer $200 (varies)
That's $37,685 OTD (out the door doesn't...
The sad truth is a new one is more than. Just a thousand or two more. With tags and dealer fees on top of a base price of $36,000 we are talking closer to $40,000 than we are $30,000. I bought certifed used with an extended warranty and I'm very happy.
Yes it did make contact at full droop. I also put it back on alignment machine to find camber at 1.0 both front and toe of .85 left and .45 in front. After they just did it on Friday. Shop owner was really understanding and we worked on it to get it into spec.
Thanks again guys.
I panicked when I saw the spring. All I could think of is I have to fix this. The reality of it is it drives straight, its stable on the highway and despite a lazy alignment shop with no print out and a mechanic who may or may not have been responsible for the spring hitting...
Thanks for the help. I appreciate your willingness to reply to my thread. My tech has no idea what happened. Nor do I. I've heeded the warnings of others on the forum and any future suspension work will include new UCA's because I like to do things right the first time, but when get so many...
I haven't heard or felt anything. Just noticed it after cleaning the wheels. I suppose there is a very good probability it happened during installation. My mechanic has years of experience from a Toyota dealer, but maybe not the same tools and lifts to do things more cautiously. I don't know...
I have a theory that this may have happened before my alignment. I put about 30 miles on it before I could get it aligned. The shop said it was a mess when it came in. Way off! Asked me if it had been in accident. Which of course it has not. I put some touch up paint on the coil this morning...
It's a 2011, I paid for all the work to be done. Shop didn't give me alignment sheet. I asked for one he said he was out of ink. Guess I should go back and take a picture of his computer screen.
Rubbing up toward middle of coil near control arm. Lift is 2.5 in front and only passenger side has any visible damage or rubbing. Probably because it sits higher than driver side.
So I installed the Daystar lift kit ... I know, I know. Anyway everything was good until I noticed rubbing on my coils. So it seems I need to get LR UCA's right? But here is my question. What kits can I install without needing to replace the factory UCA? I'm willing to do adjustable Bilsteins...
