I like Vanguard as well. If you use an advisor, check out American Funds, very good performance in the 2+ years I've invested with them. The drawback is that they are advsior funds so you pay a fee, but the fee rates are reasonable IMO.

Up here there aren't many 2wd 4runners around. I like my v6 because I can use 2wd and get decent milage, and notice little or no performance drop when in 4wd. I say get the 4x4 SR5 (biased here) if you want to mod it out, or a Limited without XREAS would be a good, but pricey choice.
