Thai what do you do in the hospital? I am a cook at our local hospital (second job). My wife does admitting for the radiology dept.

I am a hospital intensivist. (And my hospital cafeteria is pretty darn good too!) We have an internet-capable computer in the ICU that allows me to access this forum...not sure if you guys have notice, but i have been posting just a little bit more these days.

Granted our picks for this election are not great with either party .

McCain/Palin have strong and weak points as with anyone , but at least have experience .

all this talk about Obama's no experience is just whack. What experience did W. Bush have before he took office..... W. Bush is just "lucky" (for lack of a better term) that he picked up our true president Cheney. Cheney was Gipetto and W. Bush was just pinnochio. They are both dispicable people let alone elected officials.

Honestly, anything is better than our previous 8 years. We need something else.

Another thing about McCain is that he is OLD. Don't get me wrong, he could easily live another 20 years, but he is too old to be president. Look at how much Clinton and Bush aged over 8 years. It is an extremely stressful job, and I just don't think McCain can keep up with it. We are in the last month before the election and he doesn't campaign on the weekends. But for me, the truly scary aspect is the whole ticket. Like I stated before, Palin is just embarassing, and McCain's age makes the VP's more important than ever. But forgetting his age, how can we send Sarah Palin anywhere to represent our country? We often send Condoleeza Rice to represent us, and look at the difference between these women.

McCain is not in touch with the american people. His wife is worth in the hundreds of millions and he lives the lifestyle. How can we expect someone like that to know what its like down here? He can't even use the internet or send and email. Children as young as 4 can turn on a computer, log in, and start a game. His sheer ignorance towards technology is a big issue to me because technology will be key if we want to become THE world super power again.

John McCain is not a bad guy, he's just not the right guy.

1) too old to take this country into the next generation. How are we supposed to accel as a country when we got a guy who farts dust? Look how W.Bush got so old in his two terms? I cant imagine how much older Mccain can get...I visualize the host from "Tales from a Crypt".

2) his wife is a millionaire. neither of them need to work to survive. They are so removed from the average american family that it is ridiculous. they probably have so many vacation homes they dont know where to spend the night. While the rest of us cant even afford a home or keep a home.

3) we should definitely have a computer literate president. It is time to move our country forward and he is a main hinderence to progression.

My oh my... some have a short memory. Remember the Carter years... remember the Johnson years...

But lemme ask in general... It may be temepting to lay all the negative stuff that's happened in the last 6 months at Bush's feet, but what about the 7 1/2 years before that, that you don't want to give him credit for?

For most of his time in office, even after 9/11, the wars in the middle east, and Hurricain Katrina, we have had strong economic growth, with increases in real wages, and low inflation.

Yeah, we've got some problems now. Big ones. I won't deny it. But how is Bush responsible for it? Are there also not 100 Senators and 435 Representatives in Congress that share some of the load?

And this is from somebody who didn't vote for him in '04, although I have always supported him as my President.

This isn't a team sport. We aren't sitting here watching Red Sox and the Yankees. There are real issues to consider that will affect all of us. Right is right and wrong is wrong, no matter which "team" you are pulling for.

I've already voted... for Bob Barr. The change has to start somewhere.

Why don't you do this...go to your local hospital and randomly ask the doctors there who they are going to vote for. Or go to your local clinic and ask the same. Or go back to the hospital and ask the hospital administrator who he/she will vote for and how will Obama impact the hospital.

As for the "Obama Plan," that is the most ridiculous propaganda i have read! High quality?? Reduced malpractice?? Hmmm, think about that for a minute...does that make sense?? Remember, human nature dictates otherwise. I am very anti-lawyer, but the lawyers do make serve a purpose in the medical society. If there is no "threat," then there is a risk that doctors will do the wrong thing(s).

I don't know...these days, i keep on hearing that the race is getting tighter and tighter.

As for negativity, Obama has waaayyyy more TV negativity ads than McCain...4:1 ratio in fact!

The healthcare plan does have holes...BIG holes...you know what, the doctors won't suffer much (as noted above), but YOU (as patients) will suffer, esp. those who pay taxes. Yes, the indigent (poor, no insurance) population will love Obama, but it is YOU the good tax paying people who have insurance that will suffer. So, it's all good for me.

My company recently said they would drop health care plans if they were taxed for providing it, which is McCain's plan.

They also said that since people would be on the "market" for insurance, they would likely get less coverage, meaning they would see the doctor less often. And wait until his tax credit becomes insignificant against the rising costs of health care...

Guess what that would do to our $4 billion health care business (and my division, skin and wound, which is worth around $900 million)?

Guess what that would do to our main health care manufacturing facility in South Dakota, a very republican state?

Until the GOP stops this absurd interventionist bull$hit and leave corporations and individuals to make their own choices, I have to abandon them. I'm a republican by nature, but there is only so much I can take. And the latest bailout proposals of the Detroit automakers makes me sick to my stomach (they sure didn't bail out the airlines, did they?). Again, privitize the profits, socialize the losses. The Polls are getting closer is true but it's in states that McCain has already secured but he's now in danger of losing his own home state but like they say Polls are only as accurate as voters actually getting out and voting.

I predict Obama will still win by more than 10 points but it's a precarious prediction since anything can happen.

It's a mixture of the two. No ones hands are clean. While Republicans like to call Obama a socialist, they voted for the largest socialization in our nation's history (the "bailout"). You can't vote for the nationalization of the financial system and then call people socialists. You can't propose tax cuts for the wealthy and then say Obama is a socialist when he proposes tax cuts for the middle class.

What you're seeing in this election cycle is the American people getting angry. We're bailing out the rich corporations but we're not bailing out the middle class. As an MD. you may have a cushion, but the middle class is suffering, and frankly, mad as hell.

Change is coming. Obama has it right. When the Police Officers, Construction Workers, Nurses, Teachers, and Factory Workers are doing well, so is the rest of the country. They're the ones that buy the goods and stimulate the economy, not rich corporate heads. Reagan's idea of trickle down economics has finally been proven a failure and a new direction is coming.
