Sounds to me like a ground is loose for the fuel gauge sending unit or something. If you were actually using that much fuel it would be pouring smoke and probably be at risk of washing out the cylinders. I doubt it would run well if at all.

Yea, I already went up to 'trucks only' and they had like 4 runners but none of them were 01-02 which I guess is slightly different than the others.

I'm at ocotillo and ironwood. Before I go hit the trails I need to find a replacement fuel tank skid. Mine had to be cut off about a year ago and I just scraped it since it was covered in rust. I have to work this week but maybe sometime next weekend we could help this guy with his shocks?

I think I pinpointed the fan clutch today. I stopped after idleing in traffic for a minute when the truck started to get hot, low and behold the fan just squeeked and spun freely. I also just got quoted $1100 to do the fan clutch which seems astronomically high to install a $100 part.

Any update? I started running into the same issue today and have kind of come to the conclusion that I've overheat the fluid since I just towed a couple of race bikes to FL from OH. Does anyone think a trans cooler would save the trans or am I just putting off the inevitable replacement?
