    Towing A Car On A Dolly, 1995 5sp?

A few things to consider that have not been discussed so far: 1). Attaching a trailer or dolly to the Toyota - You had better make sure the Toyota is equipped with a class III or IV receiver hitch; there are no other towing provisions on a 2nd generation 4Runner. 2). Damage to the Subaru - I...

    Uh-oh did I make a mistake?

Honestly, putting around town or driving normally in a 3.0/5spd wasn't bad, but when you put your foot into it you quickly realize it was going as fast as it could to start with. I don't know, maybe my sense of speed is skewed? My other ride sprints to 60mph in well under 3 seconds, completes...

    Uh-oh did I make a mistake?

I loved my 4Runner too, just not its performance.

    Uh-oh did I make a mistake?

I'm sorry, all I read was 300zx/TT then I started drooling and lost my train of thought. I always loved the Z32. :D Oh, yeah. 4Runners...

    Uh-oh did I make a mistake?

What's wrong with your buddy's Cherokee? My Wrangler weighs about the same or possibly even a little more than a Cherokee (body on frame, verses the Cherokee's unibody) and is significantly faster than my '90 4Runner V6/5spd was. The V6 isn't a bad motor aside from the head gasket issues and...

    Tough question

Any chance it is coming from a rotating source such as a drive-shaft, tire or rim?

    first 4runner - help!

I had a 1990 V6/5spd, all options and everything worked. Then it blew a head gasket for no reason while driving down the road, unloaded on a mild October day. Like everyone else mentioned, they are not reliable motors in some respects, are needlessly difficult to work on in your own garage...

    It happened

Thanks for the replies and well wishes guys. Unfortunately I did not notice any signs before the head gasket went out. I was not driving hard or doing anything out of the ordinary, unless going to In N Out is out of the ordinary. Everything else on the motor is in good working order. As for...

    It happened

I haven't decided what I am going to do yet. I have never been impressed with the 3.0L, so I doubt I will feel inclined to fix it.

    It happened

Driving around today my 4Runner's temperature climbed high despite a well functioning cooling system. A combustion leak test detected the presence of exhaust gases in my coolant. Crap! A head gasket is blown.

Adding a winch: Trail Gear bumper or Marlin Crawler bumper?

Thank you for the information. A buddy I wheel with has an XRC10 on his YJ, so I figured something smaller on a larger vehicle would be insufficient. After talking to him it sounds like he expects his winch to pull him straight up the side of a rock going uphill, so I imagine that is why he has...

    Headlight adjustments post lift?

So far I have only lifted the rear of my 4Runner and in doing so that adjusted my headlights down for me (they were high to start with). When I raise the front end I am sure I will be in need of adjustment. On my F150 (2006 model year) I had to adjust them without question because the HID...

    Seats

What type of driving will you be doing and what are you looking for out of your seats? If you have a dedicated trail rig, or one that sees a ton of off road use it is tough to beat the Mastercraft suspension seats. If your vehicle is your daily transportation then something a little bit closer...

    lift kit?

I have a mild lift on my 4Runner. Well, let me rephrase that: I have most of the pieces for a mild lift on my 4Runner, some of which are currently installed. Here are the parts I have gathered to lift the front of my 4Runner. With installation of these parts in addition to torsion bar...

Shockingly Bad... Pro Comp ES3000 Shocks

A quick thought: I just installed my Old Man EMU 900 lift coils... they are very nice so far and ride like stock. Perhaps their shocks are just as good? I think I'm going to give them a shot soon.
