You can put the switch anywhere you want. The challenge will be getting to the wires. By putting the switch in the rear hatch I don't have to pull a bunch of wires from the cab to the hatch. It has the 4.7L V8. I'm not sure if that's even possible. Can you put the 4.7 in a 3rd gen. That would be sweet.

Thanks. I thought about doing the rear window button that is the same as the one on the dash. But after looking at one I wasn't confident I could mount it to the hatch trim and get it to look good. If you use one I'm interested to see. I think it would be harder for it to get bumped with cargo.

If you can come up with an interior hatch release that works and looks factory I would LOVE to see. I don't think I've ever seen it done. I've heard a lot of talk about it. But never seen anyone actually do it.

I used lacquer thinner. Dissolves it to nothing. Also used a wire brush wheel on a drill.
