I would order a paper gasket from a Dealer for this. That's what the 4Runner came with from the factory so that's what I would put back in it. I'm thinking maybe 13ish for the cost....

Just purchased a 2001 Limited and it only has 118k miles on it! I'm hoping to get at least 250K out of it....That's if I can keep the frame from rotting in the harsh Northeast

I'm not much of a mechanic, but does your 4runner have an "Engine Immobilizer" or more commonly known as a "Chipped key". I'm new to the 3rd Gen 4runners but I've heard of this problem on newer Tacomas and Tundras. The part that fails is the transponder. Might be a different avenue to look at...

You are right, I think he is saying that you have a way better chance of getting the correct one(s) from the dealership.
