    2006 Evaporator

Wife's '06 4Runner is in the shop right now getting the evaporator replaced. SA quoted me just under $1,000. 183,000 miles.

    4th gen V6 vs. V8. Pros/Cons, MPG

My wife drives a '06 SR5 V8 4WD we bought new and now has almost 180,000 mi. The computer says 17.5 MPG, but hand calculated it's 15-16 around town. We get 19-20 hand calculated on the highway on our annual trip to Florida. The 4.7 is a great engine, my '04 Tundra had 345,000 on it when I sold...

    Scion Head Units

The color on our 1807 is a perfect match for the dash on our SR5. I've been told the 1808 has a more reddish color.

    Really frustrated with snow traction...

Sounds like something may be wrong with your 4WD system, or it's the tires. We have Nokian WR SUV, winter rated all year tire. Not an AT tire, but outstanding in the snow.

V8 Full time 4WD MPG low?

Ours reads 17.4 on the computer, we get 20 MPG highway (hand calculated) driving to Florida, once we hit the southern states. On the bad winter gas this year, My Tundra seems to be getting worse than normal mileage this year too.

    2008 Owner's Manual ?

    $#*! My Dealer Says

A number of years ago I test drove a Ford Ranger with a fairly attractive saleswoman. It was a slow evening at the dealer and our test drive was over an hour, and we spent some time talking after we got back. I think there might have been some flirting back and forth too. A few days later I got...

2008 4runner rear window won't roll down with ignition key

Sounds like a wire. The key does up and down. Does the button on your remote work? That only does down.

    4th gen for 5th gen 4Runner?

Like others have said, not until it gets a V8 and full-time 4WD. Oh well, with this Obamaconomy I can't afford a new one anyway.

    Satellite Radio question

You need a tuner and fit kit. XM or Sirius, whichever you prefer. I installed sirius in my wife's '06, not too bad of a job, 4 or 5 hours. You get these from a Toyota dealer, the online ones will probably be a lot cheaper than your local dealer. Seems like I paid around $250 - $300 for mine.

How many and what color 5th gens have you seen on the road?

0 on the road. 1 each on the lots at the 2 dealers in town (Grand Rapids, MI)

    Longest trip with your 4R?

Grand Rapids MI to Jensen Beach FL, about 1370 mi. Leaving again March 6. This will be our 3rd trip down there in the 4Runner. Last year the alternator went out and delayed our trip home for a few days. Picked the 4Runner up at the dealer in Stuart FL at 8:00 at night and got home the following...

    No V8 Planned for 2010/2011

Had a '83 Rabbit GTI, bought it new and drove it 90K. Fun car, pretty reliable for the day. It was a rough time for performance cars, I think a CA Vette only put out around 180HP then.

How Many of you are waiting a few years to buy a 5th Gen

I put down 2013, but unless they have a center diff and a V8 in the SR5, I won't be getting one.

Looking at a 4Runner, have questions...

Our boat, trailer, etc. weighs about 4500 lbs. and our V8 4Runner does a great job towing it. Wouldn't want to tow up any hills with a V6.
