    Smeerun's Build Log

I really like your tie-down setup. I may look at adding something similar so i can adjust the location of the lashing points for different configurations.

MGM owner here too. I also leveled out the back cargo area but incorporated a slide-out table into mine.

    2020 model issues/observations

Personally, I am quite happy with the "infotainment" system. Now that Gaia plays nice with CarPlay I can follow my downloaded tracks/routes without using my small phone screen or mounting a separate device. My previous vehicle was an 05 Tacoma with no nav, cameras, or other gadgets. The...

Anyone explored any of the MABDR?

Thanks for the reply. I am fine with some minor-to-moderate pinstriping. It's inevitable so I'm not going to let the risk hold me back. I had been planning a 10-14 day trip up to Maine but their COVID restrictions are pretty high for out-of-state visitors so maybe I just run some sections of...

Auto High Beams on 2020 4Runner—Everyone like them or not implemented well?

I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet but I doubt I will bother. I dislike most automated electronic gadgets. Hell, I barely look at the backup camera...still use mirrors. I do, however, like the adaptive cruise control.

2020 4Runner Navigation Update (8 in screen with CarPlay)--Is everyone happy with it?

I'm happy with mine but I literally have nothing to compare it to. I was in an 05 Tacoma with zero tech until I traded it for a 2020 4Runner ORP. What I really like is that Gaia now talks to CarPlay so I can use the app to download and follow tracks when offline.

    Trasharoo Placement

So you want to use REI as a rental outfit? Have you no integrity at all? REI used to have a great return policy but too many people abused it so they changed it.

    New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

Curious to know if 275s will fit on a non-lifted ORP. I don't mind getting the 265s but would prefer 275s. Not planning to lift mine any time soon, if ever.

What was the #1 reason you bought a T4R instead of anything else?..

True, I am sure the tires will get replaced long before they reach the end of their life. That's a pretty easy upgrade to justify. I'll hold off on lifts, roof racks, bumpers, and other body mods until I find myself being held back with the stock configuration.

What was the #1 reason you bought a T4R instead of anything else?..

I ended up in a 4Runner after driving an 05 Tacoma Access Cab. Aside from a frame replacement (recall/lawsuit issue) and a repair of the AC system, the truck was essentially flawless the entire time I owned it. I got it back when I was actively racing mountain bikes and needed something to...

    Anyone hammock camp during winter?

I've been a backpacker for several years and am not slowly transitioning to more car-camping or "overloading" as I get older and slower. I swapped from tents to hammocks about six years ago. My primary seasons for camping are fall and winter (I hibernate in the summer because it's too damn hot...

The New Ford Bronco Debut Ad Nauseam - 8pm Eastern, July 13, 2020

Toyota is a for-profit company, not a charity organization. They have investors and shareholders that expect a return on their investment. You think Ford, Chevy, or any other car-maker is going to ignore the "bottom line" in favor of catering to a small niche in the market?

Anyone explored any of the MABDR?

I know this thread is a bit dated but I am curious if anyone has more info on this specific route. I mainly want to know if the entire route can be done in a 4Runner without completely ****ing up my paint job (new 2020 so i am still treating it like a baby).

Poll: How much is your scooped hood worth to you?

I know it's pure vanity but the hood scoop was a mandatory requirement when I bought my 4Runner last month. I had an 05 Tacoma with the scoop and the front ends just don't look right to me without it. In all those years of driving my Tacoma I never experienced any glare.

WTB: TRD Pro Matte Black Wheels (Northern VA)

Hah...was going to post the same question. I too live in Fairfax. I got the magnetic gray metallic TRD OR Premium about two weeks ago. THe stock wheels are nice but I think it would look much better if they were black. I may even plastidip them.
