1000 watt inverter w/ a 2016... will the alternator keep up?

I did see that thread, but if you're going to go to al the trouble to get the accessory belt off and get a custom pulley for the alternator I would rather just get a HO alternate and not worry about running a stock one at 150% of its expected RPMs. I'm really just asking what is the usable amps...

1000 watt inverter w/ a 2016... will the alternator keep up?

I omitted the boring details but yes it is a 1000 watt load (8 amps @ 120v) and yes it will be running constantly. Not a power hand tool. So I do need to know at least the ballpark of what output I can expect from the 4Runner's alternator. I do have a multimeter so that's a good idea of...

1000 watt inverter w/ a 2016... will the alternator keep up?

I want to run a 1000 watt load off an inverter at a job site. I have one of those inverters that comes with jumper cables to run right off the battery but now I'm wondering if the alternator will be able to keep up. How much will the alternator put out at idle (or will the vehicle rev up if need...

Rear coils on Limited vs other trims?

I fully admit that maybe I'm being a doofus. But it also doesn't seem that weird to me that the Limited would have a different spring as part of the "Sport Enhancement Suspension" (whatever that means). The shock is obviously different. I think I'm going to give it another try this weekend.

Rear coils on Limited vs other trims?

Do you recall which Airlift kit you used? I got the 60809 one which I thought was right, but the OD of the air bags is 5.5" and the ID of the coil springs is 5". Unless I am just a complete idiot I don't see how it's going to fit.

Rear coils on Limited vs other trims?

I may be wrong about this but as I responded above there seem to be different parts for the different springs. I used my local Toyota dealer's website (https://parts.toyotaofnashua.com) but other sites have similar information. The spring SEATS are the same, so if you are putting in a lift kit...

Rear coils on Limited vs other trims?

That part is the "without Limited" part. This is the Limited one: OEM Toyota 4Runner 2016 Spring 4823135450 W/SPORT SUSPENSION, 4WD<br />Location: Left (Unless I am missing something?? Which is certainly possible)

Rear coils on Limited vs other trims?

I tried to install a set of air bags in the rear coils of my Limited (to help with towing) and I couldn't get them to fit (coil diameter was too narrow). Looking at part numbers it appears the Limited has a different rear coil part #(48231-35450) than other trims (SR5 and Trail use part #...

What are you paying for oil change?

The two dealerships I've been to charge $70 or so for an oil change. DIY is about $30 with Mobil 1 oil and a Toyota filter. I've done that the past few times. It's a PITA but cheaper and quicker than going to a dealership. Now that I've done it myself and know what a PITA the skid plates and...

If you could do it all over, or if you could do it for someone else...

If you want a no-nonsesnse daily driver, just keep it stock. Even putting A/T tires is going to have compromises (worse handling on pavement, worse MPG, louder). The ground clearance, 4x4, and ATRAC on a stock 4Runner is perfectly capable for a wide range of off-road activities. If you are...

    Hard Starts - Quick Question

2 years seems a little early for a battery replacement but if you are having trouble turning the engine over there's no reason not to. Better to replace it a little early than wait and get stuck somewhere with a dead battery. If you are in a cold area you could also consider installing an...

How to keep cupholder inserts from popping out attaching to cup?

If a cup or travel mug is big enough that it's pulling out the rubber, it should be fine staying upright without it. I've never had a problem. I generally leave one insert in and the other out (stored in the glove box in case I want it).
