I have a 3 inch lift with 255/85/16's and I dd my 4Runner. I noticed a little loss in power, but it isn't anything bad. I don't think it is necessary to re-gear. If you have the money and want to then go for it, but you could just drive it as it is.

the bolts on one of your heat shields probably rusted out. I had the exact same problem. It is a quick and easy fix, just put a new bolt on it.

I had a my transfer case blow up in my 2001... there was a good 4 inch hole in it. I bought a used one for about 325. If that is all that is wrong it shouldn't be too expensive of a fix.
