I was in the market for an SUV. Honestly...I could have bought virtually any current make/model. New.
I jumped at the chance to own a supreme condition 02 Sport.
Wouldn't trade for anything else currently out there.
It just suits me in an unexplainable way.

I bought parts for timing belt/water pump job. And accessory belts.
Ended up having local Toyota/Honda indy shop do it since I'm so backed up with other things. Also had him do new plugs and front O2 sensor.
Dude did a great job. It already ran great but now it's like new. He checked final...
On a related subject...be sure to make sure that your rear brakes are adjusted. Lots of YouTube video out there on how to adjust drums.
Your hard work on the front brake upgrade will go to waste with nonperforming rears.
I got a Runner a few months ago. Bad front shimmy. Adjusted the...
Good tip. I'll check that.

If you want the front on something other than OEM...i used Bilstein 4600 shocks with stock springs. But...I used the 2wd 4600s instead of the 4wd part number.
Smooth ride.
Taller springs would lift it. But I didn't want it lifted.
Rear? Only solution to have it ride softer is taller springs...
The underside of my Runner is clean (86k miles CA truck). After seeing pics of Midwest and Northeast Runners...almost embarrassingly clean. It's like new all over, except...the transmission pan is oily.
Nothing oily higher up or fore or aft. Just the pan. No drips.
Is that a gasket leak...
You can't. The top bolts won't line up. Turning the bottom eye alone won't do the trick.
You have to squeeze the springs to get all three elements lined up.
Ask me how I know this...on and off the truck a couple times till I got my head around doing it right. Clunk went away.
As others have...
The instructions say to mount with the bottom coil-end outward on both sides. You rotate the coil and the seat to accomplish this. You have pics of the tops, but obviously the bottoms are not both the same.
This orientation needs to be done while the springs are squeezed with the compressor...
I have a 02 Sport Edition. the rear license plate frame is paint-matched, but it's a crappy paint job. It's cracking and fading...almost like somebody painted a black one. Which got me thinking...
What years/models had paint-matched frames vs black? I see both...
