I wouldn't recommend it either, the grease inside them is not standard wheel bearing grease according to the Naichi spec sheet.

What I need is a picture of the assembled axle shaft... I didn't get one after, but If I take it apart in the future now that everything has settled in I'll be sure to get one so that we can all see how it worked out.

How it worked for me
My spacer ring measurement before. Note [original factory] seal lip wear line
The anti-skid gear reluctor wheel measurement from bearing edge. It's important to note that I'm measuring from the bearing edge because the backing plate and carrier are not tight on the...
The hook style seal remover would be ideal, but I used a small crowbar and backed it up with a towel to protect the lip of the axle housing.
The trick to using any tool which pivots on a fulcrum is to keep repositioning the tool to be sure not to cut a groove in the machined surface around the...
The rear disc conversion would be a huge amount of work, but would not spare you from having the bearings and sleeves installed correctly. Besides that, if the seal leaked, the oil would still fling all over the brakes.
JohnMc is correct, and I would add (as shown in the axle seal ultimate guide) that it is very easy to press the seal sleeve past alignment. The sleeve and the reluctor ring must not be pressed down all the way or the seal will not mate up to the sleeve.

Someone is going to get a deal on this for two reasons: he doesn't emphasize that it has the coveted Highlander package and secondly, the pictures are poorly taken and don't represent how nice the truck is.
This is not my vehicle, but I happened to spot it on Ebay. Doesn't look like the seller knows what he has here. See the last picture of the original window sticker where it lists that it is a 4Runner Highlander.

Of course, it's an automatic and...
If you're lucky, the leak has only gotten into the carrier bearing area and not ruined your brakes. Usually the leak isn't noticed until there's oil all over the inside of one or both tires (and thereby, all over the inside of the drums).
The wheel flange is designed such that a small leak...
