thanks, That is very encouraging. I'm gonna hook it up tomorrow and drive around. There are some decent grades not too far from me here in Oceanside, ca. I've pulled it with my 01 Dodge B1500 Van w/a 318 cu in V8. The van is really a dog! I'm hoping the 4Runner is at least as good. Thanks again!

My 04 is a bit easier to use, so your 06 should be great. You won't have a ECT button, so don't worry about that. To put your car out of overdrive, go to 4th gear. That gear is 1:1. You will fine that out on the highway, you may want to use 5th gear and it should do fine. When you slow down or are in the city, use 4th gear. I do not have a transmision cooler. I would use that if I towed over 3,500 pounds. I do use synthetic oil in my engine. I figured that would give it better protection from the heat.

The camper is a Jayco 10X and we love the layout. The only thing missing is a bathroom. Parking can be tricky, if you want to eat at McDonalds, you may have to park a little bit away, in other restaurants you park in two spots. My camper has air conditioning and we went out to Yellowstone in June 2005. The first day we got there, it snowed. It also had heat, which we used all the time and we never used the air.

It took me awhile to figure out how to respond, I had to figure out how to do it. This new software is kind of neat. I bought the camper in 2005 and I still have it. It wieghts 1650 pounds and is about 2100 pounds loaded. I put the ECT on and take the overdrive off. It is truley easy for me to tow and I use the overdrive on the highway, becasue it is not that much weight. I like to turn off the overdrive every so often so the transmission won't overheat.

Sometimes I almost forget I have a trailer. The trailer has no brakes and it works fine. I do have a V6 in the 2001. We went out west in 05 and my wife once got up to 90 and since there were no cars around, she didn't even know it. I have towed the trailer with the 2004 and it tows fine with that too, the only thing is, the trailer hitch is about 5" higher and I had to get a bar to attach to the hitch that lowered it a bit. Instead of getting 20 or 21 on the highway, I get about 16 MPG when I tow.
