    4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

Wow only 170k kms, nice I though my 03 V8 LTD with 208k was doing good. I put 5100s all around on mine and they are doing good, not quite the cornering on curvy roads ability of the Xreas, but still good. Sorry can't help you with the other parts as my is pretty much stock with rear airbags...

    4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

Ah that's all BS, error codes-NO. I just put in 5100's all around in my 2003 LTD(V8) with rears air suspension and removed the XREAS and it's fine. There is nothing electrically connected to the XREAS system, unless they made a big change between 03 and 04. Although I still think I liked the...

    Why a 4th gen?

I think you got the 6300 payload incorrect. I have mine figured out at 1100lbs for my 03 v8 ltd, but some I've read say theirs is 1205 or something like that, maybe that was changed in the newer 4th gens.

    Towing Capacity

thanks for the examples, it is what I had thought it would be.

    Towing Capacity

Does the payload capacity include the tongue weight? My 03 v8 has according to the VIN a 7000lb towing capacity and a max tongue weight of 700lbs. My question is if the trailer you are towing has a 500lb tongue weight does that mean you only have 600lbs left for passengers and luggage etc.

    Why a 4th gen?

I wonder if you can answer a question about this. Is the tongue weight, which is rated at 700lbs, part of the payload capacity? I believe the payload is 1100lbs.

    4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

ByWays, thanks for your very long writeup. I'm going with the Bilstein 5100s bit at stock height.

    2003 xreas control absorber leaking

Well as it turns out, I ordered the 4600 series frt/rear, paid for them(from Bilstein Canada), then they said they had no stock on the rear shocks and no ETA from Bilstein for them. SO they offered me the 4600 for the front and the 5100s for the rear(same price). So I said okay ship them, then...

    2003 xreas control absorber leaking

Well after I get mine done I'll report back. I just ordered my struts/shocks(bilstien 4600) from Essex Distributors in Richmond this morning so hopefully should have it all done by this time next week and hopefully I won't have to play with the airbag leveling adjustments. Actually if it sits a...

    2003 xreas control absorber leaking

Well after just experiencing what no fluid in the RR/LF shock feels like, you would definitely know if there was no fluid in the system. It is like not having a shock in those corners at all, especially when braking it just dives to the front left. I'll be going with the stock coils which are on...

    2003 xreas control absorber leaking

Just on the way home today my right side absorber must have lost all of it's fluid, now I can tell there are no shocks(RR and LF). So I guess it will be the bilstien 4600 shocks/struts sooner than I thought. Yes I know it's not going to take mountain highways in BC like it did with the xreas...

    2003 xreas control absorber leaking

Thanks for all the answers guys. Basically I just want to keep it as close to stock as possible. I just want to reuse the factory coils that are on it now. So there seems to be some votes for KYB struts/shocks, now about the bilstien 4600 series or is the 5100 series better for stock...

    4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

Without going through all 265 pages of this thread I'll just ask my question. If I have both the RAS and XREAS(Limited model), if I remove the Xreas system to just convert it to a normal suspension(shocks/struts) do I have remove the RAS and replace them with coils too? Some parts guy at one...

    2003 xreas control absorber leaking

Hi, My right side xreas control absorber is leaking fluid. I'm just wondering if I can just replace the control absorber and be good to go. Or does it leaking mean it is draining all of the hydraulic fluid from that side of the system. I understand there are valves that close when the system...
