Sudden bouncy ride/Ride Height adjustment not working

Update Just to close the loop. My 4Runner was given a generally optimistic assessment on the frame rust situation, so work went ahead as hoped. The air suspension problem was the compressor, so it was replaced and now works fine. XREAS system was removed and new Bilstein shocks and struts...

Winter Tire vs All Terrain Snow Rated Tire

Having lived in the Ottawa area for decades, I had my summer Geolanders and a set of winter Toyos on steel rims. The Toyos were fine, but I would switch to Blizzaks or a Nokian product if I were to do it again (and also a better set of rims than the steelies). I'm now in the Vancouver area and...

Sudden bouncy ride/Ride Height adjustment not working

Hi AuSeeker, I completely agree, I can't realistically afford a new vehicle and it will be hard to find a used equivalent. My greatest concern is my frame, I need to get it up on a hoist and have someone with an unbiased opinion give me the news. If it's decent news, I may add some armour...

Sudden bouncy ride/Ride Height adjustment not working

Hi Bossman, Thanks for the quick reply and the links, it's giving me a lot to think about. Now that I have moved to BC, I have to give some serious thought to the future of this old Ontario 4Runner. On the one hand, I want to beef it up to better explore my new environment and this may be a...

Sudden bouncy ride/Ride Height adjustment not working

On setting out recently with my 2008 Limited, I noticed a substantial bounciness in the rear suspension. It just didn’t feel ‘locked in’. I pulled off the road and cycled through the ride height adjustment which did not appear to work even though the indicator flashed properly. I assume I...

    Ottawa area 4Runner servicing?

Glad to hear Belair is decent... ... I'll probably switch to them shortly as it will be closer to my new office. As it is, I had to go back to Mendes this morning (only because it's close to my current office) for an extensive brake job which I can no longer put off...

    Ottawa area 4Runner servicing?

No further ahead... ... so I'm back to my original post from a couple of years back. I've been going to Mendes Toyota for servicing and am not bowled over by it. Cool new facility, but service is perfunctory at best. As an example, at my last Spring servicing they put my summer tires on and...

    New owner!

Welcome aboard! I'm in the same boat, looking for a rustproofing solution as soon as possible. I spoke with two Toyota dealerships; one recommended Ziebart and both recommended those electronic gizmos. I've always been a little doubtful about them, but will do a little research anyway. If...

2nd gen rims on a 4th gen limited?

That's what I was afraid of. I knew that these almost-free rims would be too good to be true.... Thanks very much for confirming that for me. Cheers, Rob

2nd gen rims on a 4th gen limited?

I suspect this is a longshot, but does anyone know off-hand if the 2nd gen 15" alloys will fit on a 4th gen limited? I can't seem to find any technical specs to make the comparison, but I think they were shod with 235/75/R15s.

WTB: Rims for 4th Gen LTD (Ottawa)

Reposting into the correct sub-forum, sorry for the inconvenience. I'm looking to buy a set of wheels (alloy or steel, 17" or 18") for snow tires. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Rob

    Winter tires

I second the Nokians, I've used them on my Volvos here in Ottawa for the last 16 years and they've been terrific. However, it sounds like they're way more winter tire than you need (not knowing where you're located). Having said that, I'm in the market for steel wheels and snows myself over...

Looking for opinions - wheel strategy

Odd, this site has never struck me as short on opinions... For what it's worth, I've decided to keep the 18s as my summer wheels and reconsider the Long Trails in the Spring. As money is a little short, I'm just going to find some steel 17s and put the best winter tires on it that I can...
