It all depends on what aftermarket system you have and what frequencies it accepts. The OEM fob for a 99 is an easy google search away to figure out what freq - then just check with your system manufacturer to be sure and you're either in business or SOL.

I can tell you that the thin spatula is the way to go. No need to a shim, wood, or whatever you have. If you have a slim spatula, just slide it in over the top to depress the 2 upper tabs. Boom - it comes out. It has taken me longer to type this post than it did to remove and replace a cupholder...

Has anyone found any other model year Tacoma/Tundra parts working with the 3rd Gen 4Runner? For some reason there are a lot of newer Tacoma parts available in my area from 2005-2015.
