Pics bump I just bought a 5th gen, and had to move the 3rd gen to a friend's house in the Valley. Below are some of the pics I took of it yesterday. I have more, so let me know if you want something specific, and I'll post it up. I didn't snap any of the engine bay or under carriage, but...

    New Mexico 4Runner Owners Thread

Lots of pics and details on the suspension and exterior in the build thread linked above, but shoot me a PM or ask for anything specific and I'll post it up. I was thinking about starting around 4K just to see what happened, but for a quick, local deal I'd go lower. I'll be around this weekend...

1997 4x4, e-locker, LR ucas, Bilstein, BFGs, etc. for sale Hey guys-- Thought I'd get some advice and start here with this before plopping it in the main FS forum and/or craigslist. I just picked up a white 5th gen to replace the zoski mobile (diagnosed blown head gasket), and need to make...

Blown head gasket. New 0 miles Jasper with warranty or used?

275K, and 15 years of loyal service. Lots of upgrades to suspension, and lots of regular maintenance stuff recently completed. Timing belt and water pump were due to be replaced at 280K so at least she blew before that $ bomb dropped...

Blown head gasket. New 0 miles Jasper with warranty or used?

^^It hydrolocked when the mechanic went to start it, and he believes digging into a motor with such high miles would not be wise/cost-effective.

Blown head gasket. New 0 miles Jasper with warranty or used?

My mechanic would be doing the install. How many hours would you anticipate a job like this taking for a good shop with certified mechanics? This is way out of my comfort zone... Thoughts on these options? Motor for a 1999 Toyota 4Runner 3.4 JDM 5VZ-FE ENGINE ONLY...

Blown head gasket. New 0 miles Jasper with warranty or used?

Or... I’ve decided to stick with a 3rd gen. 4runner. I can find a nice used one for close to the cost of having a new motor with a 10 year/100K mile warranty installed, but then would face building it up again. That option would be pricier, but I could search for "The One". Not real excited...

    zoski’s 97 build thread

I hear ya. I just don't have tons of time to look for a used motor, get it up to snuff, and install it. Going to drive a 2000, and a 2011 TE tomorrow...

    zoski’s 97 build thread

Up in smoke, and open for suggestions Well she got us home, BUT…274,817 was not a lucky number for my 4Runner. On a long drive home from the southern Colorado mountains I noticed a rough idle at the first stoplight in 250 miles. I popped it into neutral and revved it up a bit —no problem...

Suh-weet!! Bet you are glad to have it "done" and rollin on fresh tires. I just had mine aligned over there yesterday also! They pressed in new control arm bushings and did the rack bushings also. Wow. Drives better than it has in years. Congrats on a killer build.
