It's been awhile since I've been on here, but I'm putting new tires on my stock '97 SR5. As of now I've decided on Firestone Destination A/T 265/70/16. Can I put a slightly larger size with no issues? I'm thinking of going to a 265/75/16... Thanks, Mike

Crank pulley is off, I thought I was going to need a puller, it certainly didn't "come right off" like some say it will, I patiently wiggled it back and forth while pulling at the same time and it slowly came off.

I just read through timing belt section of the toyota FSM. I was trying to take the ac compressor and the bracket of together, it looks like I have to take the compressor off THEN take the bracket off...makes sense.

I got started on this job today and everything is going pretty smooth. One problem... I'm unsure about how to proceed with the TB tensioner replacement...I removed the old timing belt and water pump (new water pump is installed) I tried to get to the bolts that hold the AC compressor bracket on...

I just looked at my torque wrench, it maxes out @ 150 ft/lbs...crap.

I haven't actually measured it, but yes I have a 1/2" breaker bar and I have a piece of pipe I use as a cheater.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm relatively handy with a wrench, about how long do you think this job should take? Keep in mind it's my first time doing this particular job and I'll be doing it in my driveway using no air tools.

I am replacing the tensioner, so you're saying I can simply unbolt the one that's on there now? No need to compress and use the grenade pin to hold it in place?

I'll be replacing my timing belt & water pump in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone in the Philly area have the tensioner release tool that I could rent or borrow? Or any homegrown hack for getting the tensioner released? I also wouldn't mind having a pulley puller on site in case the crank...
