Put a rear locker in it and then in a couple years put a straight axle in it for simplicity.

Hey everyone new guy from Fort Myers Fl checking in. I've just made my first official car purchase and I couldn't be happier! I picked up an '02 Limited in beautiful Thundercloud Metallic with 125k, 1 owner no accidents and has never left asphalt.
I love that the previous owner left it stock but It won't stay that way.. gotta make it mine. I've handled the timing belt and other maintenance so now it's time to customize.
So far Ive added a sports hood from what I thought was a paint matching 4Runner that was totaled, but turns out it was off of a 2000 with slightly lighter paint. I've also picked up a set of 4 sequoia split 5 stars that were in rough shape, so I gave them a duplicolor graphite treatment. (Thanks BrianSD_42!) Tires TBD so if you've got any suggestions I'm open to them!
What's next? Tundra 231mm brake upgrade parts are in the mail via discount tire and will be put on as a Christmas present to myself. (Thanks to BigFishAllDay) After the holiday spending hangover wears off I'll be looking to SAS up to a "2 lift and I'm sure by then I'll have 3 more projects on my radar.
I'm so happy to be here and can't thank this community enough for sharing this passion with me and helping create my dream 'Runner!

New member: mods for 2014 SR5
To start off I'll be completely honest. I don't know much about car mods, especially for my 4runner. Bought it new and just paid it off so I want to do some upgrades. My question(s) are just help with what brands and additions you have used that you've enjoyed.
Right now, other than wind deflectors and tinted windows, my 14 SR5 is all stock. So any suggestions on brands, what to do for the following would be much appreciated. I want to add a roof rack (Yakima Load Warrior seems to be the best), an LED light bar- preferably to a bull bar so it sits low and I don't really like full grille guards. The best package to improve mpg and horsepower; so what type of cold air intake, muffler, exhaust...
Also, considering lifting it. maybe 3" in the front, 2-2.5" in the back? And anything that goes with this (suspension system, shocks...)
Appreciate any advice, obviously new to the game

So say hi tell us a little about yourself, what your looking for here etc. that way you can get started on the way to completing your minimum requirement of posts to proceed to making your own threads and asking your own questions. i will be glad to help where i can and direct you or link you to the proper places or put you in touch with people who can help or know more than me. but please for the love of God dont go into other members threads and start posting crap and nonsense just to get your 15 post min. that min post was created so that spammers, trolls and bots dont come here and litter or clutter up threads and post ads or links etc. so here, i have opened the door for you to post away, but please keep it civil and respectful -thats all we ask.
-i dont even care if you ask repetitive questions or common questions that can be answered by reading the FAQs or a simple search.
Below are some useful hints as to upping your post counts and making friends here and or getting help looking for the answers you seek;
1. complement people on their builds and pics, each section has a picture thread, and tons of great pictures posted up daily, go there and look through them click the like button on the ones you like, people will see your not a bot and everyone likes getting likes -its a win win!
2. if you see a rig you like or think is cool look at the persons signature at the bottom of their post, often times there is a link there to their build or at least a list of mods. click the link and look at their build for ideas, ask relevant questions about their rig. -even if you just skim the thread and didnt read it. and if the OP(original poster) or someone else gives you flack just say "i missed that part sorry" (works everytime, trust me). or you can even post up asking a specific question.
3. every section has a FAQ, so try their first for you questions, you can almost always post up in those links and threads if you dont see your specific question.
4. use the search function at the upper right hand side of the page, just to the left of your screen name and notifications. and hey if you resurrect a 4 year old thread we will all know you used the search feature and are trying.
5. you can also PM members directly to ask questions if you are feeling shy or dont want to publicly ask a question, but this probably wont help you make your min 15 post, but it will help you get your answers.
-there are also several other ways of upping your post count, but im not gonna give you all the secrets...
-Please note i am not a moderator or sight administrator, and i can not look into your account for you, or help you activate your account. also it may take a while for your account to "unlock" after your 15 posts have been made, its not an instantaneous "opening of the heavens" and open posting may take a few mins or a couple of hours (your post might have to be up for review to confirm you are not "troll posting". so please dont ask me to unlock your account or something of the like, i simply am a contributing member like yourself trying to make this place a better source/resource of 4runner knowledge.
as always have nice day

Hi I am new to this forum and have a 2002 4Runner. Having spent quite some time browsing, I have yet to find information that is relavent to my situation. I am looking for an ABS control module at a reasonable price (Totota price is approximately $2000). I appreciate that you have allowed ne members to post through you.

That was the problem with mine as well as a wheel speed sensor. There isn't an aftermarket one buy I was able to find a rebuilt one with a new motor on eBay for $450 which was great. Overall cost me about $1000 to fix everything.

Thank you for the response. I have located a used unit on ebay for $350 but was concerned about its reliability.

Been lookin for a 5sp awd 22re for a while and finally was fast enough on Craig's to score one. A 1990 w/ 280k on odo with a rebuilt motor dropped in 30k ago (w/ receipts). Happy.
Interior needs lottsa work, cracked dash, center console, seats, door panels, carpets, i plan to address all that. Now the research begins here to learn what fits, what can be updated, etc.. any pointers appreciated thanks
