Looking forward to this trip, I don't have a cb only a reg walkie talkie, anyone else have a set of walkies they want to bring? I am extending this invite to the fellow NC FJ guys to see if they want to join us too. I know they are planning a trip on Feb 16.

I am planning on going up Friday night and camping out somewhere, I haven't scoped out any campgrounds yet. If its frigid cold I probably won't do the camping thing.

They have campsites there at Gulches. Is that where you're thinking about staying? They also have a little primitive cabin (more like a shack) you can use too. I believe it's got some heating and cooling. Probably one of those window units. You'd probably want to call and reserve a camp site if you're interested though.

call Skip this week, and ask him for the nice campsite that is down by the creek. its the biggest one, and the prettiest one. its either campsite 1 or 2. the cabin is wack unless the weather is foul.

This will be my first time out to The Gulches so if we can eat at a picnic shelter that would be cool. I'm fine with eating on the side of trail to though, If we can grill up some stuff that sounds even better.

Picnic shelter?
Gulches is pretty small, so we usually just pop out to the parking lot for lunch. Or if not crowded that day, a nice spot by the river. You can get anywhere in 5 minutes there.

I say we try to get there at 9:45. The park opens at 10 and we should all be ready to roll by 10:15ish after airing down and admiring everyones rigs for a minute Anyone want to try and ride down caravan? I know PD (Suprman3043) is very close to me and Austin (aha2988) may ride past us as well. MadToy which route do you take coming from Huntersville, straight down 85?
Again I have not been to the park before but my understanding is that it is smaller then Uwharrie so I am guessing we don't really need any comms and all I have is a standard Walkie Talkie. If anyone else has a set they can bring that would be great though. This way at least the guys in the front can talk to the guys in the back.
Bobby
