So it's been about a month since I got outta boot camp and now I'm in "A" school learning my rate Hooyah ENs! (Enginemen.) I ended up getting stuck here at school without being able to have a car like my recruiter told me...imagine that... but anyways, I was looking for some advice about how to maintain my Runner while being away for long periods of times, I am not married yet so its not like I have a wife to run it for me, and I don't want it sitting at my parents house, many people have asked if its for sale... HA, not my baby. So any help, comments, questions even. Let me know. Thank you.

how long of period of time? i would say sea foam or staybil in the gas tank (drive it to get it circulated) to keep the fuel good. keep the vents open on new air, not recycled.
maybe a good wax since it will most likely be sitting outside and not be washed on a regular basis.

thats all i can think of since im not sure how long it will be sitting. maybe take the battery out and put in in the garage on a tender. (not on concrete tho!!!)

Congrats, I did that in 99 then went to Florida for "A" school. I just left my rig with my parents back then and told them to drive it some.
 
Houston huh? I just happen to be in League City. Drop it off and I will take care of it for you. I have lots of experience watching over vehicles from my days in Polar Operations. We rotate around with who got to keep all the cars and bikes on our 6 month deployments. :wink2:

As far as best rate in the Navy.........well I'm in the Coast Guard so I think I'll sit that one out.
 
Best thing to do is have someone take care of it for you. That way someone can occasionally drive it just to keep things lubricated. Vehicles are like people if they lay at rest too long they get stiff and things dont work right. That's cool that Helo-Mech will help you out.

Hi guys,
My dad wants me to join the Navy boot camp.. And then I'll have three "A" School options in Texas: Lackland Air Force Base, Shepard Air Force Base or Fort Sam Houston. What is the general procedure to apply? What to expect after graduation? I'm not enthusiastic about this idea, but I just need to explain it to my dad that it's not a piece of cake.
