"Babe" Heffron of Band of Brothers Dies...

For those that may be fans of the Band of Brothers series or book, Babe Heffron died over the weekend. He was 90 years old.

I actually saw Babe at the Reading (PA) WWII Weekend a few years back and he looked great. Wild Bill was there too, along with "Buck" Compton and Malarky.


This guy was a true hero. He was literally one of, if not the first US soldier into Eindhoven, Netherlands during Operation Market Garden, which help to liberate the town. babe was always treated as a hero upon returning to the city after the war.

Band of Brothers really is the best mini-series ever made! I've watched it at least 10 times and never gets old! I did my time in the Military but these guys were a special breed!
 
RIP. Greatest Generation without question. Just talking with any WWII veteran is a very special opportunity.
 
This country was built by men and women who like Mr. Heffron sacrificed so much at a young age and really throughout their entire lives so we can enjoy the lives we have today. If there is one failure in American society and culture, it's the failure to teach future generations about the attitude of these people.

This is so true. I've had the opportunity to talk with a few member of the Tuskegee Airmen and it's truly amazing to hear them talk about their struggles and success. It put's the stuff going on today into perspective.
