2020 Toyota Supra
The supra is back, unfortunatly it seems like it is mostly designed by BMW.
335hp\365ftlb from a twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0L inline 6 cylinder engine.

I get it...great hardware and the shape is super duper aerodynamic...but damn, at least from pics, it is fugly! Bubble shape on most of everything...and if it’s not bubbly, then hard angles!
It looks like it was designed by a kid who wants something in your face...cohesive design be damn!

Have you seen the Civic Type R? I know that thing is a monster on the street, but no way I could drive that. The Supra looks like a luxury car in comparison.

But Civic R appeals to a different crowd...whose main purpose in life is using used coffee cans as mufflers!
This Supra is supposed to be for the more sophisticated crowd...the M3/M5 crowd etc.. (At least that is what i think)
And having that design...well, Supra just took fugly to the next level.
For me, Lexus LFA looks a lot better than this Supra!

The only thing it shares with the mk4 Supra is engine configuration and rear wheel drive from what I can tell.
It doesn't even look similar to the older Supras.

My 41yo friend just bought a Type R. He knows it looks ridiculous too, but he loves the way it drives.
And I absolutely agree with you that the LFA is a better looking design.

Huge disappointment compared to the FT-1 concept. BMW drivetrain is a deal killer for me.
I think this sums it up pretty nicely:

I think they are being pretty conservative with the hp number, the Z4 comes with 382hp and uses the same motor.

I guess I don't think it's all THAT bad looking, if not really a modern interpretation of the originals. BMW has always been fantastic at building inline six engines. I haven't driven a recent one, but if its like the ones through the early 2000's, it should rev pretty willingly and run steam turbine-smooth.
What's sad is that Toyota finds itself in a place today where it can't design a car like this itself. Not even the FRS/86. That spirit, DNA, pedigree, whatever you want to call it, is long gone from the brand.

Front axle has limited slip diff. It handles really well from what I read.
