I think it depends more on the garage door and the framing around it.
The garage door they did demo on had a weather strip against the top and appears to be a fiberglass door with a metal brace behind it (giving it some flex) that allows the wedge to push at the top edge.
Just like cars, if an intruder wants in bad enough, they're getting in.
Well, i just examined my garage door. At least for my garage, the release handle is flush mounted against the slider...so, there is no gap for any hook to get into. What i did then was to take out the handle at the bottom of the string.
Thoughts? Am i safe?
I won't be knocking.:
In addition, with desparate times, we're going to see more amateur theives/highschool punks trying to break into homes/cars.
Much easier and cheaper fix is a simple zip tie.
