Double Cab Tacoma or 3rd Gen

I've narrowed my vehicle search down to another 99-00 Toyota 4runner or a 01-04 Tacoma.

I'm kind of torn between the two. Both have there advantages and disadvantages. With the Tacoma specifically the rust issue with the frames.

What are your alls thoughts.

Do you need a truck?

Here's how I see it...

Pros:
Tacoma: More lightweight (better mileage), 5-speed available through 2004 (except on Double cab), e-locker available through 2004 (trd package), has a bed, manual transfer case.

4Runner: 4-linked rear, available AWD (if you get one with multi-mode), Room on top for a roof rack, You can see the clock, more creature comforts, cheaper to buy used, SUV.

Cons:
Tacoma: Can't see the clock, more expensive to buy used (average well above 10k), Not many creature comforts, orange gauges (Ugly IMO).

4Runner: Heavier (worse mileage and lacks power), Much harder to find one with 5speed or elocker.

Pick your poison..

BTW, I used to own a 2001 double cab TRD prerunner, so I have experience with both vehicles.

I'm not sure. I like both. The ed is useful, but I live the 4Runner more for some reason. 4R has my vote.

I agree on the ugly gauges and the location of the clock. My brother has an 03 double cab and that's one thing I don't care for.

There's no denying I miss my Old tacoma though. Both are great vehicles!

Did you figure out what you are going to do with your shrockworks bumper? Was it even damaged very much?

The insurance company is now the title holder of the vehicle. I was serious considering pulling it off the vehicle and selling it but I'd have to put the stock bumper back on and with it being in Utah and me in Colorado it would've just been a big hassle.

The Tacoma I'm looking at has a supercharger and an ARB with a winch.
