Throttle body rounded bolt problem

My 1997 4runner has what I diagnosed as an IAC problem because of high idle with intermittent stalling. I decided to replace the IAC instead of cleaning it, but while trying to remove the throttle body I rounded the bolt head (pictured). Now I can't get the throttle body off to replace the IAC. I think my choices are either to purchase a bolt extractor kit or have the car towed to my mechanic. I lean towards trying the bolt extractor, but I am afraid that I might make things worse by breaking the bolt, and if I do that I'm screwed. I am wonder what a pro mechanic would suggest.

Have you tried just using a 6--point socket? It doesn't look that rounded. Hit it with PB Blaster a few times. Give it a try. Pop it with a hammer and brass bar a few times. Try to tighten it a tad. Rouding is directional, so sometimes you can apply more force in the tighten direction to break it free. That's a pretty big bolt. Not that easy to break. That's not a place I would want to use heat so I am not going there. I am not a pro but I have been wrenching a long time.

Agreed. This doesn't look bad at all, though I wouldn't hesitate to use heat. Preferably from an induction heater. That has become one of my favorite tools living in the rust belt.
