01 TPS % readings?! What's yours

After browsing and searching I couldn't find much other than 01-02 having different TPS setups due to fly by wire gen 1 design which I already knew by looking at it.

I'm having an issue with mine and trying to pin it down. I hooked up my OB2 scanner and at warm idle I'm reading it at 14.1% and at WOT it's reading at 78.8% IIRC anything over 60% WOT should be good.

The issue I'm having is at 75% throttle the truck feels strong but at WOT it feels as if it's not as powerful.

I've sprayed and checked for vacuum leaks, cleaned everything, plugs are great, so are wires, pcv replaced, everything imaginable done, and this is the only hang up I'm having at the moment.

Any input appreciated.

In my experience a problem where you feel like you're losing power as the throttle plate opens more is generally fuel related. The A/F ratio goes out of whack and you can feel it.

I'd put a fuel pressure gauge on it, and drive it around. The fuel pressure regulators are known to go bad on these trucks from time to time. I've seen several posts where people have a slight smell of fuel when the truck is off, because the diaphragm is cracked and it pulls some fuel back into the intake tube through the vacuum line.

Just something to take a look for....

Funny you mentioned that. I was going to hook up some gauges this weekend and monitor fuel pressure etc.

With that being said the only issue I've had thus far was a CEL coding bank 1 sensor 1 too lean. I replaced the sensor since I had a spare new one anyhow and have had no more CEL. (yes maf and everything cleaned before I did it)

I have no smell of fuel but I will most certainly look into this.

edit: I will drive the truck and watch O2 readings.

A CEL for a lean condition could very well come from a fueling issue, so I'd say that's all the more reason to check that next. It can take a while for the ECU to set that code once it's been reset.

I had an issue like this with my RV (which has a 22r in it), and fought it for weeks. The only fuel pressure gauge I had was under the hood, and it was fine at idle and when revving. I replaced the pump and regulator and a bunch of other stuff with no luck, so finally I made an extension for the gauge and figured out that fuel pressure was dropping only under load. It turned out to be a pinched fuel line near the rear axle, which was due to poor routing when the RV conversion was done. The fix was about $12 worth of rubber hose. Of course that's after spending about $800 on all the other crap........

At least I don't have to worry about that stuff for a while. :moping:
