03 4runner ticking noise (lifter noise)

My 03 V6 4runner started making a ticking noise from the drivers side of the engine at about 1100 miles. It sounds like a valve lifter but the Toyota dealer said, "It just sounds like a 6 cyclinder". I think that is B. S. Has anyone heard what this might be? Toyota says this is normal with all new V6's , but if that were true, why didn't it make the noise from the beginning? Any information on this would be appreciated.

Not to scare you, but this thread (http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12605) has the worst case I've heard of.

Be sure to read it from the beginning.
