Hello everyone.
I have a 5th gen and recently also purchased a 6th gen. I really like it but when I shift from Park to Drive after about 30 seconds of warming up there is a somewhat loud “ticking” noise but for only for approximately five to ten seconds. My foot will still be on the brake and then it goes away. I am sure it’s normal but I just want to make sure this is characteristic to the engine and not an issue. Once it stops I find the motor is what I expected and sounds totally normal.
I park it in a garage and I’m sure that adds some echo. When outside it’s not quite as loud. The truck also doesn’t have the hood insulation.
I’ve read they are “noisy” engines but I just find it odd this sound goes away completely after the 5 to 10 seconds. So I assume it’s not the d4s system.
Are there other 6th Gen owners out there who are more familiar with their truck than I am who can tell me if this noise is normal?
