05 4runner drivetrain issue on incline

I tried searching this and couldn't find this issue but may have missed it so apologies if this is a rehash. Purchased this one used 6 months ago and so far so good but have noticed if I pull up to an incline and have to slow way down or stop then accelerate to go again it seems as if the transmission slips out of drive and I hear and feel a clicking noise and cannot proceed in drive. I can shift out of drive and depending on the grade of the incline can either shift back into drive or shift into low gear and can proceed up the incline with no issues. I have checked fluids, visually inspected everything I could see and have tried to pinpoint where this is coming from but so far have come up with nothing. Anyone ever have this issue or have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
For info it is an 05 4runner SR5 2WD V6

Sounds like hill start assist to me. Part of the traction control on these trucks. More than likely the system detects you rolling backwards, when you accelerate your tires break traction enough to activate the system. Try accelerating slower and you might avoid this.

NJ, that was quick and thanks I will try that next time. Haven't paid much attention to the acceleration rate but will give it a shot.
