05 Limited Clicking noise - seat issue?

I have a 05 Limited V6 2WD. It has only 10k miles on it. For a couple of months now, I have been noticing a clicking noise coming from the center armrest / passenger seat area. It seems to be most noticable on rough roads, or when I'm turning / breaking / etc. Has anybody else seen this? I know there have been some TSBs on problems with the driver seat, but I don't know if they apply to the 05 model. I told the dealer about it during my 10k checkup, but the mechanic just dimissed it as "leather noise" and that was it. I notice when my wife drives, I don't hear the noise, which leads me to believe it's the seat since she weighs less than me. Any suggestions on what to do to resolve this?

The clicking is definitely not the seat problem because the Limited's with power seats were not affected by this. I don't know what can be causing this, but I recommend that you go back to the dealer and request either a mechanic or service manager to ride along with you so they don't make you crazy. A "leather noise" would be more of a rubbing noise than a rattle.
 
my 03 v8 limited started making a clicking noise from one of the seat rails when i'd go over bumps or turns. this started at around 25k miles. there was also another clicking in the seat in the middle of my back, which was due to a spring. i took it in and they found the 2 tsb's which dealt with these two issues specifically. the dealership ordered a spacer to fix the clicking coming from the seat rail, and sent the seat to the leather upholsterer who inserted additional foam into the seat where the back rests. the clicking noise from the seat rail is completely gone, i still feel a slight click in the middlle of my back occasionally, and the dealership offered to let the upholsterer fix it again until it was corrected. i'd be suprised if they didn't fix this in the 05 though...
 
I thought the TSB was specifically for 03 Limited models with power seats, which is why the folks with manual seats have had such a tough time getting it resolved?

The noise sounds like a plastic noise to me, like something is not fitting together right. I'm not able to reproduce it consistantly, which is troublesome. I did try putting the rear seat down and then pushing the driver's seat up tight against it. This seemed to reduce the noise.

I set up another appointment with the dealer, so we'll see what happens.

OK, I didn't get much help from the dealer. I took a test ride with the mechanic and was able to recreate the clicking noise. He said that the noise was the seat rails and that it was normal. I guess I'll just live with it and wait and see if any TSBs come out for '05.

the existing tsb doesn't cover the 05? sounds like the exact same problem i had fixed.

I'm having the same noise. Just started today, a popping noise that seems to coincide with weight shifts in the seat upon breaking, accelerating, and turning sometimes. When I raise my *SS off the seat and do the above, no noise! I have a 05 Limited (leather, power). Is there a fix? Cnims, do you have an update?

I had this same issue, took it to the dealer, the service advisor found 2 tsb's which dealt with this and had it fixed. Look at my post above...
 
Be dynamic about the situation. Just rip the armrest out inspect it and reassemble. The are instructions on the site on how to removed it.

Do you know what the 2 TPBs those are? I am having the same issue and I have side airbag on my driver's seat. The dealer offered to have their upholstry shop ripping the seat out and fix the problem but I am just not that confident enough for them to mess with the airbag system...

Well you're in luck, I found them on the web! Take these two guys to the dealership and they won't be able to dodge the issues. These are the 2 TSBs I had done to my truck. I have the side airbags as well and it's fine. The upholsterer deals with these things all day long, everyday. The airbag's not that easy to mess with, it's a simple device. I took my steering wheel airbag off to replace the steering wheel. Just have to disconnect the power and then it's just a deflated bag sitting in a box.. :D

The TSBs only apply to 03 model year though, not 05, correct? I'm sure this will be the dealer's excuse.

you got a point there. i didn't notice copperx's was an 04. the seat track tsb is an easy fix you can do, the other requires removing the leather from the seat!

Thanks for posting the TSB. Even though it may only apply to 03 models, it does appear something rather easy to do (the first one that is -- not the second). I'm curious though about the spacer they added to yours. Do you have any info on that?
