0W20 Oil Change

So today I went to my local toyota dealer to get my oil changed. I noticed on the window sticker they used 0w20 instead of the 5w30 that is recommended in the manual. Is it cause I am in Houston now and it is hotter or should they have put 5w30 in? Sorry I don't know much about oil weights

There is a huge difference between the two.
The 3rd gen, 3.4L, uses 5w30.
I deffinitly would not drive more than needed with that oil.
Take it back to them and have them do it again, for free.

I called the service advisor and he said they did use 5w30 otherwise it would have been a lot more cause the 0w20 synthetic.

I would pull your dipstick and see how thin the oil looks, 0w-20 is like water lol, definitely don't want that in there, and certainly not in a hotter climate. Sounds like a his word vs yours situation in which your motor is at risk.

Go to the parts department and show them your reciept for the oil change and ask to see the paperwork where the technician got the oil from the parts guy. They keep very good records of what comes and goes in and out of inventory and you will be able to see exactly what was used. Don't waste your time talking to the service people, go straight to the parts desk.

0w20w is lighter then 5w30 on all accounts.

Even if it's 5w30, they should be changing it out because of the typo on the window sticker. Their fault.

Keep in mind they will say they change it and probably wont...
