100W Inverter Issues - Please Help

Hey guys, so I have a bit of a weird issue I can't figure out with my 5th gen 4runner (2018).
When I am in park, both the 100W & 400W inverter work just fine and stay on when the button is pressed. However, when I put it into drive or reverse, the 400W turns off (this part is expected and included by design) but the 100W also will not stay on longer than a few seconds, even after I push the button to turn it on again. I have a 1000w Jackery battery plugged into the power outlet for recharge. I've checked the fuses and none are blown. I'm at a loss what this could be. This makes it so I can't recharge my external battery and is a complete pain in the ass for me on trips.

I was going to do this but em leaning towards a small Honda inverter instead cause I can use it at the camp site for plugging in kids stuff.

But.. this isn't my issue lol.. The inverter is not working at all, it's not a matter of me wanting it to be always hot. It doesn't work at all so it won't work when the vehicle is off either if I did this mod.
 
I tried to use a soldering gun that takes 150 watts, if I try to use something that takes over 100 watts it shuts off. Under 100 watts is OK. Maybe your unit is close to the 100 W limit?

This ^. I'm pretty sure what you have plugged in is over the 100w limit. I doubt you can get an exact 100w draw from the plug. I'd bet it trips at a lower point.

I had a heater plugged in one time just to see if it would work and your video is exactly what happened. It'd work for a few seconds and then the light would go out.

Try plugging in something that takes very little power and see if it trips.

Also when you overload the 100w, no fuse or anything blows, it just shuts itself off.

May be this might help
If the protection circuit is activated and the power supply is cut, conduct the following procedure:

Park the vehicle in a safe place,
and then securely apply the parking brake.

Check and ensure that the shift
lever is in P or N.

Make sure that the power
consumption of the electric appliance is within the maximum capacity of the power outlet and the appliance is not broken.

Press the power outlet main
switch again.

Interesting! My only other thought is maybe the draw from the Jackery isn't consistent and briefly draws 110w (for example) when it's first connected and preparing to charge, and then it settles back down to 100. But the outlet will trip before it gets to that point.
 
I have a Jackery 500. I charge it from a 12V outlet in the 4Runner to keep it topped up while driving and the Jackery 12V output powers the fridge. Pass-through mode. I’ve noticed that charging a nearly depleted Jackery this way the meter initially shows 96W.

If you’re charging it by the AC method through the AC-DC power converter brick it’s probably drawing more than 100W from the 4R inverter. And tripping off the inverter. That brick burns up a lot of power, very inefficient, mine gets pretty hot.

This is more than likely your answer.
I have a Maxoak Bluetti 150. It charges at 168watts through a plug.
Mine won't charge while driving because it's past the 100 watt limit.
It will however charge at the full 168 watts due to it being able to use the 400 watts while parked.
I didn't realize until I got to Colorado from Texas that my Bluetti was down a bar while keeping a fridge going and thinking I was charging all at once and had to figure out why lol.

I've actually just purchased a Bestek 300 watt inverter off Amazon for $30 and I'll be testing it tomorrow before work to see if this fixes my dilemma. That way I can charge on the road while driving for future trips. I'll let you know as well if that will be a quick fix for you.

Sorry, I'm not the OP. I have the Bluetti 150 and I was gonna see if my work around with the inverter I got off Amazon would help the OP as we both have the same issue it sounds like.
I'm not able to charge mine directly from a 12v outlet unless with an inverter stated on the shopsolarkits website. It didn't even come with a 12v charger to begin with and something in the internals doesn't allow it to.

It is odd though for the OPs jackery. I remember reading or hearing it was able to be used and remain charging at the same time when I was shopping around for one if I can remember.
 
I have the same thing going on with my Jackery 1000. Pretty sure the issue is that from an AC outlet it will default to trying to pull over 130w-which it will happily do while parked but as you've noticed, it shuts off when you shift to drive. Simplest solution I found: charge off the 12v while driving.
 
For what it's worth i'm using a 350w Rockpals (similar to Jackery). i'm powering the Rockpals using the Cigg outlet in the rear which doesn't use the inverter. and then i'm using the Cigg outlet port on the Rockpals to plug the fridge in. and the fridge stays powered and the Rockpals battery can charge up from dead. i keep the AC outlet free for something else that needs smaller wattage charging.
