$149 for 8 years of oil change

I just want to let you guys know that Russell Toyota located on Route 40 Ellicott City, MD is having a special oil change package $149 for 8 years. It is sound like i'm advertising for them but i think it is really good deal if you guys don't mind using symthetic blend that is according to the service advisor told me. This is not new initially I bought another package for my other 1997 toyota Camry which they were offer for life time, but now they are only allow for 8 years for their new oil change package.

It sounds like a good deal. I can tell you they usually figure most people keep there car for 3 or 4 years. When I get a part with a life time guarantee and I come back in 6 years they are somewhat surprised. Another thing to consider is, what are the chances they may go out of business in 8 years. I once bought some tires with a guarantee to replace the tires for 1/2 price for the life of the car and after 4 years they were gone and I had worn tires.

This is one of the well known dealer in MD they are also own Madza, Subaru, and VW of course Toyota and Scion

It is a deal. But it improves the chance your rig will be in their bay when other minor or major service service is due. And that is when they make the $$$. Rotation and balance, alignment, brakes, plugs, trans/diff/brake/coolant fluid changes, injector cleaning, etc.

Just shop around before having other services done. They probably bank on most owners not comparing prices.

Bluto has the right idea. It's just sales. What oil and filter do they use and what is the oci. I assume it's API cert oil, but what about the filter. If it's a white box, no name filter, be careful. Besides the lotboy needs some experience, because he might want to become a mechanic someday. It pays more than washing cars. So, let him change your oil. You can be sure someone else is going to be looking over the lotboy's sholder, offering you some other service. After all, you're already there, why not? You may not know it but you just might need a fuel injector service or an engine flush. If you don't think you look like a paycheck when you drive into the service department, you're wrong.

liencongtu, ask them if you can have your oil change performed every 3K miles. The price looks fair and reasonable to me. Also, please ask if they use recycled oil, new oil, and/or an OEM filter.

Don't ask for an oil change every 3 months, cause asking for 3K mile intervals does the job.

As I said "based on the service advisor they are using synthetic blend and OEM filter (oil filter color is black with red toyota letters). Yes, I went back every 3k for an oil change, but they are recommend for 5k. Therefore, it is up to you if you want to do 5k or 3k. For 150 bucks you have the total of 32 oil changes.

That's less than five bucks an oil change. The pressure is going to be on, for them to make their money back.

Considering the fact that I pay $25 at the dealership I hope they dont sell you stuff that you dont necessarrily need.
