16 sr5 with the TRD suspension /wheels ?

Hi all,

I'm going to pull the trigger on a new sr5 ,,few questions I had for those in the know...I want the TRD suspension ,,I have the part #s ,,,I know u can get them from TRD ,,,and also the wheels

Can I have the dealer install it for me as part of the new order,,incorporate it into the deal?


What's the widest tire I could go with being the TRD wheels are only 7" wide?

Lots of threads about this. I ran 285's on mine as have many others. Also, you should buy my TRD wheels that I have for sale...

Im sure you could run it all under your loan but then you are paying 3-4% for 5yrs or so for some wheels and suspension...
 
Depending on what your lift plans are there are better options than the TRDP suspension for the pretty much the same amount of money. You can go with a 285 on the 7" wide rim, but it will probably rub with the TRDP suspension. You can find tons more info by searching these topics.
 
I was searching around a bit but couldn't find exactly what I was wanting ,,,
As far as lift,,,,just wanted a more solid suspension than the mushy stock sr5,,
Was thinking of the toytec Bilstiens to level it out,,but figured might be easier / better to just have Toyota install theirs from the jump,,,at least if I have issues could bring it back, ,,,

N yes 285 I did find on the threads sorry I do see that now
 
Don't take this as gospel, but my understanding is that the high end, remote reservoir suspensions are designed for high speed performance. Think thoroughbred race horse. In the Carolina's we have a few places with technical crawling and driving above a few miles per hour would break the truck. I needed a system that would allow me to return the ride to stock when armored up and loaded with recovery/camping gear. Think mule. The way I see it, the Australians have been overlanding since before it was a thing, and ARB has been leading that industry for decades. Just my 2-cents.

But seriously if you are going to buy suspension. Unless buying used a decent price the amount for a new setup is better spent on another brand. Just my .02

As others said, the dealer will do that for your but you will end up paying more than you realize....

Just remember, if you decide to go the route of having the dealership install TRDP suspension on your SR5, the warranty will only be one year for said suspension upgrades.
*It is treaded as an accessory since the T4R didn't come with it. I inquired about that some time ago thru the dealer and thru the 1-800 TOYOTA #.

If you are interested in a suspension very similar to the TRDP's, look at the Bilstein 6112's and 5160's. You can purchase them and have them installed for less than you will pay for the TRDP's and save yourself $$$.

You can level your T4R because you will have more adjustment capability than you will get from the TRDP's suspension. Period!

[1] Anything can be part of the deal, if the dealer is willing. Assuming the dealer has access to a shop where they can do the work (almost all do), you shouldn't have a problem. It'll be insanely expensive for what you get, and you'll have to make sure financing/tax paperwork is handled correctly, but if that's what you want then go for it.

[2] Unofficially you can put almost any width tires on any width wheel. It may look ridiculous and/or be unsafe, but it can be done. That said, dealer shops tend to play by the rules, and every tire has a recommended wheel width range. A plus-1 tire, or 275/70R-17, is as big as you can get if you want to stay in this range. But even though I'm not aware of any 285/70R-17's where 7" is within the recommended range, millions of miles have been put on 285's riding on 7" rims.

Thanks for the feedback. Makes sense regarding the MULE example. I think my T4R would fall into that category as well. As much as I think I'll be doing highspeed runs, not a reality.

Can you share your OME setup with me? Thx
