17" GEAR rims on 06 4Runnner?

I have a chance to get some 17" GEAR rims, 17x9, 10.00 offset, 35 lbs, with 285/70/17 Michelin tires on them (only 10k miles on them) for my 06 4 Runner Sport. I have no lift, just stock. I want the 18" or 20" Enkei rims that came stock on some of the Toyotas but haven't been lucky enough to find them. These rims are in great condition as are the tires and price so I thought about it.

Any thoughts or issues? Will they be too deep?

Great looking rims, that offset seems a little worrisome though, with 285's it will rub like crazy (unless I have my offsets backwards lol) Are they on another 4runner now? Do you have any pics?

Dude, there is absolutely no way that those tires will fit without a lift. None whatsoever. So don't try it unless your ready to be disappointed. Oh and they are called wheels.

They were on a Toyota truck. I don't have any pics yet from the guy. I figured they would rub. I guess a lift is in my future...

I'm going to do a lift first I guess. Hmmmm...unless I just get smaller tires for these rims, er.. wheels. :zoom:

I, and everyone I know that is a weekend mechanic, refers to them as rims.

Wheels, rims. Same thing. Hell, I tend to refer to "wheels" as the entire package. Rim + Tire = Wheel. The device by which your car is able to move on. Either alone and you don't get far, or at all.

On my motorcycle, I also refer to them as RIMS and every motorcycle shop I have ever had to take my "rim" to have a tire mounted has know 100% of the time what I was asking when I would call and go "hey, pulled a nail out of my tire; how much to mount a new one on my rim?"

Oh well, easy. 15 bucks, free if you buy the tire here.
