1985 4Runner seats

I have a bone stock 1985 4Runner Deluxe that I'm about to put a bit of money into, having owned it since 1986. I have found some 1985 SR5 seats, front and rear. Mine has the Deluxe full bench rear seat. I know the front seats will drop right in but has anyone ever put SR5 seats into a Deluxe model and, if so, how did it work out?

Thanks!

Are you asking about putting SR5 rear seats in ?
I'm not sure what the diff is between SR5 and Dlx rear seats, if any.

FWIW, I have an 84 SR5, if you can show the difference I may be able to help.

The SR5 seats are split rear folddown cloth seats with headrests. The Deluxe has a vinyl full bench seat which also folds down by tipping the seat part forward and then unlatching the backrest with a set of pins and then folding it down. If I recall from my 1986 SR5 (which I don't own anymore), the SR5 seats fold by pulling up a knob on the top of the backrest.

I really just want to see if anyone has ever put SR5 seats into a Deluxe model and see how much trouble they had with the mounting brackets, etc.

I haven't bought the salvage SR5 seats yet so I can't look at them beside my 4Runner to see if they'll go in or not. I thought if someone had done this before it would be useful to know how much trouble it was going to be before I went to the trouble.

Thanks,

Greg

Yeah, mine are the split seats that fold the way you describe.

Toyota makes things interchangeable, so I can't see why the SR5 seats wouldn't bolt right in.

Yeah, do it.

For the same gen vehicle, just about everything is interchangeable, truck or 4Runner, 2wd or 4wd.
