1997 Limited.....locking diff standard?

I'm looking at a '97 limited, have not seen it yet but was wondering if locking diff was standard or option? Owner was not able to confirm yes/no yet.

Generally (with 1 exception not relavent to 98) the locking diff was optional and not standard.

Yes it 's a Standard Equipment on a 97 4Runner Limited. My buddy also has a 97 Limited and it came with RR Diff Lock. My brother, although a 99 Limited also has lockers.

Is it possible to find the e-locker on 2WD Limiteds?

the elocker was never a standard feature on any 3rd gen model. i am also pretty sure that it was not a option on 2wd's

A US based 4runner limited in 1997 had 4 options: rear locker, sunroof, rear heater and 3 in 1 CD/ cassette player. The rear locker was not very common.

The guys were right, the Locker was made available as an option not only for Limited but SR5 as well.

The rear diff lock was an option, even on the Limiteds. And only on 4wd models.

I'm looking at my '97 4Runner Brochure as I type this. It states that the rear diff lock was optional for all of the 4wd models. Base, SR5, and Limited.

I’ve seen plenty limiteds within those years that didn’t have e lockers

If it is in great shape with low mileage I would consider adding a Locker, then you would be good to go.

Indeed, this is incorrect. It was an option for each trim level.
