Hey all!
First off, new to the 4runner world...just bought a 1998 Ltd model (auto) last week with 168km on the clock....love it!
Just got back from a 800km round trip ski weekend in the interior here with no real problems...took me some tinkering to figure out the 4x4 but got the hang of it! (to disengage the 4x4 i had to stop, turn off the button and then put it in the opposite gear ie reverse...read on here that this is not that uncommon?!)
Anyway, here's the problem. Got in it yesterday and started great as usual. However when i'm in drive and stopped (foot on the brake at a light, etc.) a loud rattling vibration starts up from under her. Put it in park and it stops straight away! This probably happens 50% of the time. It seems to be pure vibration for under...the car itself doesn't really shake.
I'm a far cry form a mechanic so i apologize for my naivety in advance if this is simply a loose muffler or something!
