1999 Limited without leather?

Good evening,

I have been looking for a 3rd gen 4Runner for a while and I found a clean one online today, however a few things seem strange to me.

The interior on the vehicle is very clean, it has the wood trim of a limited, but cloth seats front and rear. This sort of stands out so I searched and could not find if it was even possible to get cloth seats in a Limited.

Also I checked the Toyota Maintenance history online and under Grade Toyota list SR5. I am not sure if this should say Limited if it was a limited, or if it just says SR5 for all of them.

The final thing that looks odd to me is the fender flares are black, the truck is white with chrome bumpers and black fender flares. I have searched google images and could not find another one with this same setup.

Overall the vehicle looks very clean and has less than 90k on it. Why would someone swap all of the wood grain trim into an SR5? Is it more likely the leather seats were torn and replaced with cloth?

I do plan on going to look at the vehicle in person as soon as I can. Any help in identifying if there is something strange going on is appreciated.

Thank you.

Send a link to the ad so we can see. Limiteds have the digital a/c, and should have the color matched bumpers and flares. People put limited badging on these all the time. Like I said, post the link so we can give you more info.

There is an awesome info link on the main page that shows you all the differences, lots of great stuff there, I recommend looking as everyone here provided a ton of info I read through for years to finally get my favorite runner.

That said, does it have Limited badges, power seats, and what tranny is in it?

Sounds like its an SR5 with wood grain...running boards?

Mystery solved, can't believe I didnt see that. I was thrown off by the Limited badge and the wood grain interior.

Thanks for your help.

sounds fishy. I'm not sure if you are aware but there are probably a lot of vehicles were flooded and then crossed state lines after Hurricane Sandy..

any vehicle with a sketchy interior or history is something to be wary of.

Where is the limited badge? Ya, 100% SR5. Also, that's not the real wood grain, it's the aftermarket stick on stuff that goes over the current panels. The real limiters have painted on wood grain, not press on laminated pieces.

A good detailer can do wonders, but that truck still looks damn good from the pics. I'd say its definitely worth a look. See if there is a service history (actual paper) to see when, but most important where it was serviced. Do the usual inspection for rust and everything else, but if that was local to me I would look at it....

About the limited badge, I guess I am losing my mind. I checked the website I first found the vehicle listed on and I can not find one place that list it as a limited or has a picture of a limited badge. I can only imagine I saw the italic 4wd badge and just thought limited in my head.

I will still go check the vehicle out, it looks nice to me I was just confused earlier about what I was looking at.

Again thank you guys for setting me straight on that.

The factory wood grain is actually real wood under that plastic. You can delaminate the top clear plastic, sand and stain the underlying wood, and then topcoat with urethane. Not as durable as new, but MUCH better looking. Worth doing if your factory wood grain is starting to delaminate.

Does anyone know what vehicle that radio came out of? Or is that stock? Never seen a 3rd gen with a stock single din unit..

My 1999 SR5 came with a single DIN unit (cassette) from the factory. It didn't survive the first afternoon I got the truck home from the dealer. There were three factory units; two were single-DIN.
