1999 Power Antenna Gears Grinding

Ok Ok ... I know there are plenty of threads that detail how to replace the mast and fix this. I have purchased a cheap OEM mast in an attempt to fix ... nope ... didn't grab properly.

So I bought a Toyota OEM replacement mast ... I attempted to insert it and it grabbed, but wouldn't take it all the way in or push it all the way out. So, I looked on here and found that I needed to clean out the broken mast pieces, which I did.

Re-attempted to insert OEM mast to no avail. It feels like the gears are stripped because it won't grab it and take it down without assistance.

Has anyone found a replacement set of gears for the Power Antenna Motor assembly? Or should I just replace the whole assembly?

To be honest, dont waste your time on the power antenna and just go with a hard mount. Look up the Taco Whip Mod. That is the way to go. I fused around with mine for months, just to have it keep breaking. Haven't had a single problem since changing the whole thing out.

But it does grab it if you assist it a bit? Sounds silly, but are you sure you got all the pieces out?

If the c-shaped part of the gear on your left is broken the antenna motor could run longer than it's supposed to and not seem to work right. More often than not it's because of an aftermarket mast track that is too small in diameter, but if it's not that then look here.

I got a motor out of the local pic n pull for cheaps.
