Curious if anyone would consider swapping the 1FZ-FE motor into a 3rd gen? Maybe someone here on the forum has considered it or maybe even done the swap themselves?

If you're going to hack in such a long engine you're better off going 2JZ. The 1FZ is more of a slow revving stump puller and much better suited to the larger Land Cruiser. Not worth the performance difference when a V8 poses less firewall to core support length issues and more power potential. If you want a straight 6 then the 2JZ has been done before, but that was a tight fit so I can't even imagine the larger 1FZ.

I appreciate your insight, sounds like very good points. The numbers I saw online seemed like a decent increase over the 3.4L V6 I have now, in terms of HP and torque. That was what peaked my interest initially, had me daydreaming of a more mechanically inclined version of myself that can swap a motor on a Tuesday. Clearly, I am sure there are better options. I saw one online that seemed like a pretty decent price, so I was curious to see what some forum folks might have to say.

I'll bet you are far more capable than you probably know. I had never done anything like a motor swap until I jumped in to a project about 4 years ago. Problem is, now I am addicted to this kind of work 
I am on my 3rd motor swap now.
The more I think about this swap, the more interested I am. Putting a 5-speed manual behind a 1fz-fe would be a very interesting combination. I always loved the torque of my FJ-80 but with the hulk of a vehicle, it definitely needed more power....putting that same motor in a much lighter 4R might be a kick.

It would be a ton of work for ~30hp and ~50ft-lbs. of torque. That's about what you get from a TRD Supercharger...
And if you really want power, the 1uz, 2uz or 2jz are all more powerful with more torque and known to fit with the same or less work than a 1FZ. AND they have more parts availability.

As someone who has a FJ80 with a 1FZ, why would you ever want to do this? It is literally the most pain in the ass engine to ever work on, and makes hardly any horsepower for how huge and heavy it is. The only benefit is that it makes a lot of torque, but literally any V8 in history will produce more hp/torque and be a smaller form factor and probably weigh a lot less.

You're probably right, I guess it more or less comes down to correct tools, lack of lift, garage space, the list goes on and on lol. Now that I do have a runner though, and a pretty decent one at that, I do plan on doing more self wrenching on this vehicle than I have on some others. I have recently been pulled away from doing much of anything for myself, as I have a 9mo baby girl. Once she is old enough to walk, she will then have the pleasure of being introduced to mommy and daddy's hobbys. This includes but of course is not limited to vehicles, sports, beekeeping, sustainable living. and of course I want her to acquire some of her own.
Disclaimer::Again, thanks everyone for the input. As stated previously, I saw a motor online and it peaked my interest. I am in now way ready to pull the trigger on this at this time. I understand there are better available options for a motor swap.
