That's the one! I've taken it on rattlesnake/constrictor a number of times now. My favorite "take it there stock" trail. Forest Lake stock is tricky.

Can't decide if i wanna take it to Mineral Basin without a locker/lift. Seems like good potential for hurting it. I like the body on mine. :(

Bah, Forest Lake is cake.

I did Mineral Basin with a 1.5 inch lift on 31s and one and a half lockers, and I used my sliders a couple times for sure, but it was wet and I was aiming for the harder lines. I think if the trail was in good shape and you picked your lines real careful like, you could get a stocker through there. There's one spot maybe 2/3rds of the way up where you get decently offcamber going up a ledge, and I highcentered pretty good on the tcase mount there, but like I said it was slippery as heck. There's nothing on Mineral that's harder than Radiator Rapids on Constrictor, so if you've been that far on Snakes then I don't think you'd have much to worry about on Mineral. Get some sliders this winter, and we'll hit it up first thing in the spring. :)

This is my 87, new here and new to 4runners so she isnt as pretty as some of yours. Changed the tires since as you can see and got some 34" Swampers, added front and rear lockers, changed gearing to 4.88, and did a 3" body lift, custom made bumpers, added some lights and a wench up front, and added some flairs. Still working on it.

But she gets used :)

The wench on front, does she eat a lot of bugs or do you make her close her mouth when you drive?

First post here. I just got my 87 yesterday and I already LOVE this thing. I never thought something with barely 100hp could make me smile so big.
AFAIK: 4"/3" Trail Master Lift, Detroit locker rear with 4.88's and 35's. 225k on the bottom end with a fresh head due to burnt valve.

I have zero armor, I really don't want body damage. I've been up Mineral in a friends' Wrangler.

I don't quite remember where Radiator Rapids is on the trail. Is it after Wayne's World. I usually park it there and hop in something else, if we even go farther.

Radiator Rapids is the obstacle on Constrictor just before Eagles Nest. Not as hard as Waynes World at the end of Rattlesnake.

Lucky, nice find.

Thanks. It actually found me. It was offered to me for an 89 Trans am I didn't want to spend the time and money freshening up so I swapped them. Gotta love Craigslist. (sometimes) :biggrin2:

Damn. Nice trade!

I just swapped out the chrome grill on my grey '85 for a black one, but your pic has me rethinking that...

Nice sunny afternoon!

Installed a factory altimeter / inclinometer and then realized I live at sea level and in an area that is as flat as a pancake so I guess I will never know if it works.

On overcast days I wear good quality sunglasses and on sunny days I wear a welders mask. You get used to it......

I thought I'd contribute to this thread. My 4Runner has ever so slightly changed since this photo was taken.

My brothers' 1990 4Runner is on the left and my '85 is on the right. Both are 22RE + 5SPD.
