Wow. How the heck do you get a vehicle to Portsmouth Island???? I would love to do that. How were the mosquitoes? Did you camp out? Do you have to have the stupid NPS permit?
(For everyone else: Portsmouth Island is a remote island near Ocracoke Island in the southern Outer Banks. In the 1970's the whole town left and left a village of houses, stores and churches. I've always heard you have to hire a local fisherman to take you there. The NPS now owns the island and village.)

Bodie State Historic Park, Bodie SHP, Bodie State Park - Bodie.com
Went here years ago when my boys were little. They loved it. One of the best ghost towns in the U.S.

There is a private ferry that will take you over, and there are cabins for rent that are run by the Federal national park service (NPS) Mosquitos werent that bad, but the green head biting flys were tough.....they are legendary over there. They will make you bleed. Very similar setup exists on Cape Lookout island as well. It used to be one big lsland until a storm ripped a channel down the middle.

I've been to Bodie. Bodie felt to me a lot like Mesa Verde feels - very tame, very sterile. It's awesomely preserved, but a place like Bodie is too managed to speak for itself. I like my history a little more raw.

I just saw "Abandoned America" on Netflix. Nice feature on Bodie.
Here is a family photo during the San Diego 4Runners Group meet last Saturday on Fiesta Island...
At that time pic was taken, there we several first-gens. People came at different times, and most left early - June-Gloom is upon us
Dorton, love your ride brother, really dig that blue color. as far as lawmaker...? Is that the name of the runner? Or is that who i am? Because that is not me, and I'm not sure about the truck. I found some pictures on expedition portal of it, I know it has been some places lol.

Just thought I'd add this to the gallery. Good buddy of mine just picked up this '84 runner for $1500! Needs some motor work though (distributor, carb) and a tranny (that we already have). Please don't ask me about the color scheme! Was like that when he bought it but it does have a good set of 38's on new steelies, dual case adapter (minus the first case) and 30 spline Longfields so I'd say he got his money's worth already.
