Well guys, I come with terrible news, two days ago my beloved "White Smoke" aka my '87 4Runner was stolen from me. I am sure right now its out in the county in some hicks barn getting all chopped up for parts

I was parked in my colleges parking lot right under a light close to some buildings. It was taken around 4:30-6:30 a few days ago. I had no alarm system and it was locked. I love in Bellingham Wa. Luckily your boy has insurance, but now I am gonna have to haggle with them. Because we know they're gonna low ball the shit out of me.

I know it's not a guarantee and this doesn't help you now kfitz, but I NEVER leave my 4R without putting my club on the steering wheel. I personally hear way to many stories of 1st and 2nd gen Toyotas being stolen for Latin America.

I hope the insurance takes care of you. I know mine wouldn't give me a 1/4 of what I have in ours! Id be interested to hear how they treat you.

Yah looking back on it now it makes a lot of sense to own a club. The least expensive theft protection you can have, after owning a manual transmission ha-ha. Honestly though I just really believed that Bellingham Wa was a lot safer than this. I have lived here for five years now, only once have I had shit stolen out of my truck, and it was because I had the top off. (****er stole my friends pipe)
A huge fear of mine is that my insurance company is gonna hella low ball me. Then after that finding a nice one isn't gonna be a small task. For the past day I have looked all over the internet and have found MAYBE four that were as nice or nicer than mine for sale.

The info at the end doesn't mention any suspension upgrades/repairs - but under the hood you have an EMU bumper sticker. Is the suspension rebuilt or original?

If you put this much work into the video - prob took good care of the car haha.

LOL! Removed the chrome rocker and wheel trims on mine as well. Heck, even Cadillacs do not have those.

Hi all,

Seems I can't post a newbie thread so I'll start the post count here.

I've been a massive fan of the 1st gen 4runner since I was I kid. Finally decided to buy one a few years ago and after looking around a fair bit ended up with an ok condition '88 model with the 4y unleaded petrol engine. It's a bit rough around the edges but just about every 1st gen is in Australia. It near impossible to see a mint condition one, too many kids buy them as they are cheap fourby's and they mostly trash em.

Lucky for me I recently came across another, a very straight '86 with a purrfect 2L diesel. It's a one owner car and log book maintained!

Sadly I can't keep both so will sell the '88 petrol model and start modifying the '86 diesel.

The white one is the petrol '88, the blue the '86 diesel.

My first upgrade will be a roof rack system. I'm thinking a track mount system bolted to the top of the roof will be the strongest option.

It seems the fibreglass rails can handle some punishment though but I'd be hesitant myself to use them.

Second upgrade will be 'new leaf springs, the old girl is running on the originals and they are almost straight they are that buggered, the bump stops acts as back up shock absorber!

Nice trucks! Light duty only on those fiberglass gutters. I've ripped those from packing too much weight on rough roads.
