Took the family up in the mountains on Christmas day to play in the snow. I only got one pic of the 4Runner but my daughter took a couple cool pics on the ride back down:

I think my wife actually took this one from the back seat:

The clouds filling the valleys below us were pretty cool looking on the way down.

I was a little nervous pushing snow in places but the 4Runner didn't let us down, I love having a Toyota again!

Looking at all of these photos is seriously making me wish that I still owned my '86.

Without being able to find the VIN for my old one, can anyone suggest the best way to find out if the vehicle still exists (or if anyone on this forum may own it)? Not interested in trying to buy it, but just curious. I can post anything about it that I can remember to help.

No, this is Larch Mtn. The first pic was parked at the L1552 rd. The next two were headed down the L1500 road and the last one is headed down L1600 to the staging area for Jones Creek ORV.

Went up to Mt. Sumas, had about a foot to two feet of snow! also got stuck a few times at Mt. Sumas. Couldn't really go that far because of so many downed trees by snow...Guess I need a chain saw! Would still be up there if it wasn't for my roommate and shovels!

Nice! Wondering how the 4runners handle snow ... are your 4Runners stock or with lockers? No Chains? (I have stock 1986)

Mine is almost completely stock. I've only added add a leafs in the rear to level it. It's got rinky dink all weather looking tires but it did fine as long as I have stayed in the ruts and kept my momentum up! It was heavy wet snow though. I would have had more confidence in the light fluffy stuff.

If you don't have the VIN and don't know how to contact who you sold it to, you don't have much chance I think. Was it registered in your name? Maybe your DMV has a record of the VINs on your previous vehicles?

You might be able to check with your insurance company for the VIN

Mine does great in the snow, as long as you dont have to back up a half mile trail in about with two feet of fresh snow.(thats how I got stuck yesterday.) I have the OME 2inch lift with some half meaty tires. Wouldnt say they are meant just for off roading, but it surprises me with the stuff I can go through. Oh and 4Wheel Low is a unworldly!

I will have to do some searching to see if I can find any of the old paperwork that may have had the VIN on it. The license plate that it had on it when I sold it doesn't show as having been smogged in California since 2006, so the new owner either wrecked it, or took it out of state, or who knows what else.

New to me 4runner,

2.4L Diesel, manual,

Added 2" lift, 33's, snorkel, bumper and gave it a good clean. Slow but gets me there eventually.

Had a good weekend weekend with the 4R put about 290 miles on it averaging about 17 MPG. I'm pretty happy with that since I have about 34" tires. Here is a shot in Laguna Beach along the Highway 133.

Do you have any lift at all? Those tires look stuffed in there!
