Do you have any lift at all? Those tires look stuffed in there!

Thanks you! And no there is no lift on it yet. The tires are stuffed in there but so tuck with minor fender trimming up front. I plan on doing a 2" OME lift or Chevy springs in the rear. I have also tossed around a straight axle up front.

WOW! I would have never thought you could fit 34's or anything close without a lift! Makes me feel better about my plan for a 4" lift with 35's. Thanks!

Had a good weekend weekend with the 4R put about 290 miles on it averaging about 17 MPG. I'm pretty happy with that since I have about 34" tires. Here is a shot in Laguna Beach along the Highway 133.

Thanks man. Yeah, zuk coil spring lift. At least for the time being. Eventually I'll do it right but just got so many other things to fix up. I see you have a 2 inch add a leaf. Where did you get that one?

When I first got the truck. Pretty much bone stock with 139k. Needed a few pieces (all brakes, rear axle seals, front cv, tires, etc) but overall clean for an 87

Started the 1st coat of cleaner wax to try polishing it up a bit

Added 33's and picked up a 3rd gen for the wife

"El Segundo" - 88 White SR5 5-speed - TX

Here is the latest project for my ongoing multi-decade struggle as a Toyota rebuild addict:
1988 SR5 4 Runner w 5/speed.

I picked it up not running, but with a name: "El Segundo". If you like Tribe Called Quest then you'll know the reference. The previous owner to me said it was named that when he bought it from the guy before him... so the name sticks.

El Segundo is getting a full rebuild. The body is incredibly clean and straight. Zero rust, anywhere. And when I say zero I mean church lady clean. Its the reason I bought it. Everything else is getting a full gut and reconstruction from the bones out. Stay tuned for a build thread on it. This is my seventh Toyota rebuild but my first on this forum. I usually wrench on 'cruisers but have gotten pulled to the dark side of 4runners as of late (my recently sold 5th gen T4R can be seen in one of these pics as well)

This is a great forum by the way - I have really enjoyed the threads and community. I'm looking forward to getting this build thread posted. Work has already begun...

Never rebuilt 3VZE - just rolled 350,000 miles.

Basic oil changes every 5,000 miles.
Always keep the coolant checked and topped off, toyota red.
She is a little leaky, probably could use new valve cover gaskets, but I'm not concerned.

Daily driven since 1988!

Here's my 88' that i picked up about a month ago. Loving this thing, i think the 2015 gets a little jealous! where are y'all getting OEM parts at?

Joey at the 4Runnerhouse in Dallas is a great resource for parts - especially since you are just over in Louisiana. I have been rebuilding an 88 and he has been great for finding almost everything I've needed in the "hard to find" category... except a clean dash... no one is selling those.
