'14 LE 2WD. I have a question for the guys that have been very particular about the trans filter change. I've read the posts, know about the overflow tube, filling etc.
Has anyone pulled the "overflow" plug with the transmission to temperature and the engine running on a factory filled transmission to see what happened?
My thoughts - I saw video's etc, and think I remember seeing that four quarts were needed to do a filter change. So I raised the vehicle, and drained the pan before pulling the pan. I drained what seemed like a lot more than 3-4 quarts like some videos stated.
I did a Lexus ES 350 recently and before draining anything, I raised the vehicle, left the engine running, and pulled the plug with the overflow installed. I captured the "overflow" and measured roughly a quart. When I went to refill the tranny, I filled to the overlfow, inserted the plug and added roughly a quart to get back to the original fill. I'm wondering if somehow I missed doing it on my four runner because I didn't measure it...
