Was the roof rack not intended for a 4th gen?

Better question... I'm still confused what did you have to drill? was it that the leg (for the rack) was at the same place of the factory hole?

It is designed for the 4runner. The exact same rack is used on the 5th gen as well. Just the rails are probably different.

I just had to re-drill the holes on the rail since they did not match the location on the 4runner. They probably corrected this by now. It was no big deal to re-drill new holes in both rails for me.

Just ordered one of these 2.2m racks from equipt, since i don't have a sunroof i'm really looking forward to having the extra length on the rack.

K9 Rack 5th Gen

I am very interested in this rack for my 15 LE. Please share experience with rack and pictures if you have installed on your 5th gen.

Hi, I am looking in to this rack for my 4th gen, equipt1 site still says that drilling will be required, so at first i backed off, but reading you post made we wonder (and I am still not clear on) is the drilling required into the roof of the truck or just the rails that come with the rack? Sounds like you just drilled new holes in the rails that came with the rack, and not truck roof drilling, but wanted to make sure; this is a pricy purchase. Appreciate your response.

Yes that is correct. I drilled total of 8 holes on both rails.

No drilling is required to the vehicles roof.

How's the wind noise with and without the sunroof open? Can you see the rack at all through the front while driving? I assume no issues with the rear spoiler at all. It looks like it might just about be the perfect size!
